Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes. (Key West, Fl)

Updated: Jul 25, 2019

There are so many restaurants that are classified as five star and/or the most romantic restaurant. Now don't get me wrong I have been to a ton of fine dining romantic restaurants across the United States but one holds dear to my heart.

Latitude's on Sunset Key in Key West, Fl is a place I have visited for 10 years in a row. My husband and I got engaged in Key West, Fl and found out about this beautiful restaurant from a friend of ours.

The restaurant was named the #1 Best Overall Restaurant in Key West by OpenTable in 2016, and one of the 100 Most Romantic Restaurants in America for 2019. Recently, the restaurant was just voted as OpenTable's Best Scenic Restaurants in America and they are not wrong with any of these awards.

Latitude's is Sunset Key Cottage's signature restaurant. If you are staying on the island the restaurant is right in your backyard. If you are staying in Key West the beautiful restaurant is a hop and a skip from Mallory Square on a private ferry owned by Sunset Key Cottage. You need to make sure you have your reservations well in advance since there time slots book-up quickly! I always book my July reservation in May.

The ambiance at Latitude's is something that you can not find anywhere else. You can sit out on the white sand beach overlooking the Gulf of Mexico while watching the sun dip into the water at sunset time. You will not find a better sunset anywhere else.

The food is to die for as well. You can go and enjoy some appetizers, a bottle of wine and dessert or go for all the whole dining experience depending on your mood. My husband and I this year indulged in a little bit of everything.

I started off the night with a delicious dirty martini.

For appetizers we had: The Artisan Cheese Plate (imported & domestic cheeses, sweet & savory sides, warm baguette, sesame crackers) and Carpaccio Spiced Ahi Tuna

(caper meringue, basil sauce, olive crumble, heirloom tomato “glass”). Both appetizers were phenomenal.

For our entrees we had: The Seared Sea Scallops (fresh corn polenta, sautéed swiss chard, burnt orange bourbon gastrique) and The Seafood Pasta (key west pink shrimp & prawns, strigoloni pasta, guanciale, heirloom baby tomato, zucchini, tomato fumé). The sea scallops were perfectly cooked and so much flavor and the homemade strigoloni pasta was amazing.

I paired my dinner with a glass of "Guigal Cotes Du Rhone"

Rose (Rhone Valley, France) which was the perfect addition to our amazing meals. Latitude's has a large wine menu to select from and plenty of by the glass options.

We finished off our night with with a dish of assorted homemade sorbets (mango and raspberry) and it was the perfect way to end the night. The Latitude's staff even added a sparkler to our dessert to wish us a Happy Anniversary!

At the end of the night we walked over to the dock to catch the ferry back and had a chance to see all the beautiful tarpon dancing in the blue lights under the dock.

As always our experience was delightful, romantic and like nothing else. The staff is well educated, polite and made our dinner even more enjoyable. We will be back for our 11th year next July and can not wait.

Latitude's alone is enough for you to book your next romantic get-a-way to Key West, Fl. You will not be disappointed. You can make your reservations HERE.

I put together a small video of my journey over to Sunset Key Cottage's, Latitude's and our overall dining experience. Enjoy!
